Chequamegon High School Earns US News and World Report BRONZE Award
Of the 517 high schools in Wisconsin, Chequamegon ranked 98th in 2018. The US News and World Reports Award process uses five factors; College Readiness, number of Advanced Placement tests given, Advancement Placement results, and mathematics and reading proficiency. Those five factors are considered by looking at how high schools perform on state mandated testing in math and reading. Next, US News and World Report considers how traditionally underserved students in the school are performing. The final two steps consider the graduation rate of the high school and the performance in our Advanced Placement programing.
Last spring the district earned the "Pacesetter" award from the College Board, the organization that runs AP. I credit Ms. Eimermann, Ms. Waitrovich, and Mr. Pearsall for their hard work in those classes. The students really have to have commitment to achieve success as the reading each night is often several hours. Of course, each student carries with them the work of many teachers to achieve in this arena.
A significant effort in curriculum work by District teachers integrating the ACT standards into our State standards has also added to our achievement.
Thank you to the Class of 2018 for their hard work and the resulting success. Class of 2019 - let's hear it for silver or gold next year.
